Ecreif

This is my OC Ecreif for the Rebel Prince Contest





In the fierce world of the dragon-people a war was once raging. The war was bloody and many warriors were missing a leg or a claw. Teeth clashed and bit and blood spattered the red earth. Through all this fighting there was one place that remained safe. This place was a fortress on top of a very steep, cliff like, hill. The hill protected the dragon- people from harm. Land goes that tried to climb up the cliff were easily shot down. Fliers could not find a landing place to enter the fortress. Thus they were safe. Inside the castle were many dragon-people, some of them being the fabled king, queen, their son, daughter, and loyal servants. One day the people in cave witnessed a terrible event. The son and the mother had a horrible argument. The son wanted to fight in the war, as he was now old enough, but the mother would not hear of it and wanted her son the stay safe inside the fortress. “I WILL fight for my people mother!” the young male dragon-person said. His mother grew extremely angry at the insolence her son was showing in front of all these people. She barked “You will do as I say and you will obey your elders”. Now both dragon-people were very angry. The son thought for a moment in tense silence. He was a teenager in relation to the long lives of the dragon-people. As most teenagers everywhere, he was a very defiant young one, determined to show them that he could not be pushed around and would not be controlled. “No” he uttered as he ran out of the castle and into the fresh air of the upper lands, the world above earth. He ran and ran, in his rage forgetting that he had wings. Stumbling over a rock he realized that he had reached the edge of the upper lands. He looked out over the edge but could not make out the place the humans dwelled called earth. He didn’t think, he just did. Maybe he would have realized how dangerous it was had he not been so angry. He did not know then that he would have to go disguised for the rest of his life nor that there was no way to return to the upper lands once you had left them. But of course, he didn’t think as he braced himself and plummeted towards the world of humans.
